Paingatery Gramam

A Historic Brahmin Settlement

Paingatery Gramam, located in the peaceful village of Nalloornad, (close to Mananthavady city), Wayanad, Kerala, is believed to be one of the oldest Brahmin settlements in the region. It is thought to have developed between the mid-18th and early-19th centuries, during the period when the region was gradually coming under the administrative influence of the British in India.

Traditionally, a “Gramam” means village, normally referred to a Brahmin settlement organized around temples, learning, and community life. Paingatery Gramam was likely established as a small spiritual and cultural center where families lived close together, maintaining traditions of Vedic learning, temple rituals, vegetarian life style, and classical knowledge systems.

The settlement have originally been structured in the style of a Kerala agraharam—a row of traditional houses leading to a temple, and small lakes for swimming and bathing, creating a sacred and harmonious living space. These homes were typically built with local wood, clay tiles, and open courtyards, designed to stay cool and connected with nature.

At Artone we have a project in plan to make this historical place more history to the world, in future we are dreaming unique blend of different art based vibrant educational campus for holistic learning. Here everyone able to learn skills and arts for daily life and far beyond. read more
