Artone short story

In the quiet corners of Padinjarathara, sometime around 1984–85, a spark of creativity began to glow. It was here, in the humble setting of a local library, that Thambi Master —(picture below) an artist with vision and passion — began offering simple art lessons to those who dared to dream in color and shapes.

With little more than pencils, paper, and purpose, these early sessions became more than just tuition classes. They became a sanctuary for young minds, a place where imaginations took flight and hands learned to speak the language of art.

As word spread and the passion grew, ARTONE found its permanent station in Mananthavady area. There, it took root as more than a school — it became a movement. Officially named ARTONE, the center blossomed into a vibrant hub for artistic expression and creative nurturing but still not had a place of its own.

Over the years, ARTONE has sculpted more than just artists. It has shaped dreamers, thinkers, and contributors — individuals who have gone on to enrich Wayanad and far beyond, through art, culture, education, and service. From galleries to classrooms, studios to community projects, the spirit of ARTONE continues to ripple outward, carried by the very people it once inspired.

Today, ARTONE stands not just as a school, but as a living legacy — a tribute to one master’s vision, and to the generations of talent it continues to awaken.

ARTONE History: Where Creativity Found Its First Home
The process of Reviving ARTONE:
We are Rebuilding it for our future generation.

It is important because today, as our world rushes forward with screens, algorithms, and artificial intelligence, the need for human creativity and patience has never been greater. Our children are growing up surrounded by technology — but without nurturing the creative soul, we risk losing the very essence that makes us human: empathy, expression, and imagination.

That is why we must bring ARTONE back to life.

This is a call to rebuild ARTONE — not just as an art school, but as a creative sanctuary and campus for our children. A space where learning happens through hands-on projects, Exploration, storytelling, collaboration, and the joyful act of making. A place where every brushstroke, every blend, every sculpt and sketch becomes a step toward a brighter, lighter human future.

We Need your Support to make this happen!

We welcome all forms of support—volunteers, educators, artists, mentors, donations, materials, and ideas.
Let’s join hands to revive ARTONE—not just as a center for art, but as a living campus for project-based learning, creativity, and community in our village.

Together, let’s shape a new generation—not just of skilled minds, but of creative hearts—rooted in tradition and ready for tomorrow.

"We aim to make Paingatery Gramam a global destination for creativity, culture and conscious learning"

🎨 New Location: Paingatery Gramam 🎨

A Dream Rooted in Tradition, Growing Through Art

Above image Captured on a foggy morning in Paingatery Gramam—one of South India’s oldest Brahmin villages and the neighborhood where I grew up—this image holds more than just memories. Years ago, a visit to Kalakshetra in Chennai deeply inspired me. Since then, I’ve dreamt of transforming this serene, heritage-rich place into an art village—a place where tradition meets creativity.

With its deep roots in culture, ritual, and quiet beauty, this village embodies the spirit of a dream now taking shape:
an art-based multi-varsity, a true Sarvakalāśāla—a sanctuary for all the arts.

Our Vision: Step by Step

  1. Establish Artone Art School
Launch the KGCE-approved Artone Art School with institutional affiliation—currently in progress—right here in the heart of the village.

  2. Revive Ancestral Spaces
Restore and repurpose old ancestral homes into vibrant learning hubs for fine arts, classical dance, and music.

  3. Build a Vibrant Campus.
Gradually expand into a thriving, walkable art village where tradition and innovation flourish together.

This is a dream all who believe in the power of art, education and community. Together, we can shape a space where heritage inspires the future—and where creativity finds a true home.

The 'smARTONE' aim.

A fresh approach to education—blending creativity, intelligence, and emotional depth.

ARTONE is part of a broader vision—education that nurtures intelligence, creativity, and compassion in equal measure.

A nurturing space where learners grow into thoughtful, courageous collaborators and future contributors—ready to shape a world that longs for more heart. and empathy.
